Optimum Browser Settings
Welcome to the website of GWDC. The following recommendations are the default settings used by most browsers and are intended to enhance your overall browsing experience on the World Wide Web.
This website is best viewed using Microsoft® Internet Explorer® version 5.5 or higher, or Mozilla® version 1.3 or higher, and at a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. To check these settings, or adjust your screen resolution to 800 x 600 pixels (Windows® only), please do the following:
- Minimize all open windows before proceeding.
- Right Click in an unoccupied area of your desktop (a short menu will appear).
- Click Properties and then click the Settings tab.
- Adjust the screen resolution by adjusting the slider under the heading Screen Area (Windows® 98) or Screen Resolution (Windows® XP) to 800 by 600 pixels.
- Click Apply then OK.
Additionally, you may want to ensure that the font size of Microsoft® Internet Explorer® is optimized by doing the following:
- Click View and then scroll down to Text Size.
- Select Medium (the menu will then automatically withdraw).
For higher resolution PCs and laptops, 1024 x 768 is quite acceptable and maybe preferable, although the website view will be slightly truncated. If using a higher resolution such as 1024 x 768, the best text size versus image size will result with a medium sized text setting.
Viewing PDF Files
Most documents linked to, or archived by this website, use the Adobe® Reader® as the file viewer. These files are stored in the Portable Document Format ("PDF") to ensure the integrity of the document, so that when you view and print it, the document is exactly as the author(s) designed it. For this reason, PDF has become the industry standard for the electronic distribution of document files. Adobe® Reader® is distributed free of charge. If you do not have this file viewer on your computer, please click here to go to our Internet Links page.
